Happy New Year!

Oma is starting the new year off with a new winter coat. It's like a water proof unitard, she looks like a super hero. These pictures were taken on the lake a week or so ago.

Oma just had her yearly check up and it was good for the most part, but she tested positive for Anaplasmosis, a tic borne disease that is just like Lyme disease. Oma has no symptoms, apparently many dogs just manage to fight it off with no help. Most of the time if the dog is going to show symptoms it will be in within 14 days of being bite or not at all. There is a slight chance she could be effected in the future, and stress can bring it on, but it's more likely she'll be fine. Just one more thing to worry about.

If she is effected the standard treatment is a one month round of Tetracycline. The symptoms are lethargy and swollen, painful joints, so if she is effected it should be easy enough to notice with an energetic dog like Oma. Hopefully she continues to be asymptomatic.

Work is going OK, and I just got myself a nice new snow-thrower for the winter. I got some real nice presents for the Holidays and for my Birthday as well.
